A Gentlemen’s Dispute

A Gentlemen’s Dispute is a slapstick physics-based party brawler where players fight each other as gentlemen until the last standing. The game offers highly chaotic gameplay with hilarious moments emerging from each player’s growing collection of perks and creative combination of items.

Environment Art

As the lead 3D artist, I’m responsible for environment art and art pipeline management. I established a distinctive painterly visual style, inspired by classical aristocratic portraits, to support the game’s gentlemanly theme. I’ve created six maps so far, with more coming in the future.

My workflow starts in Blender, where I model and UV assets. I then bake object-space normal maps and process them in Substance Designer using custom painterly filters to achieve the desired texture style. After refining details in Blender, assets are integrated into Unity, where I finalize the look with lighting adjustments and post-processing, ensuring visual consistency across each scene.

Technical Art

In addition to leading environment art, I’m also responsible for the technical execution of visuals in A Gentlemen’s Dispute. My contributions include writing custom shaders to enhance visual fidelity, developing tools to streamline 3D art production, and implementing various optimizations to ensure smooth performance across a range of hardware.

I work with Shader Graph, HLSL, and Substance Designer, and actively optimize Unity settings to balance visual quality with runtime efficiency.
